2025 Coordinator:
Derek Downing
RULES:
HITTING:
Players will receive 5 pitches from a player. If there is no result, they will receive five pitches from a coach. If there is still no result, the player will hit off a batting tee
Coaches kneel when they pitch to create a proper swing path for the hitters. Coaches that stand to pitch will not accurately replicate an age-appropriate pitch plane and could cause an inaccurate swing path for the hitter
All batters in the order will bat in an inning. However, teams will play “outs.” (i.e. players will be removed from the basepaths once the defensive team records an out)
FIELDING:
Players will be positioned on the infield in proper defensive positioning (or as close as possible). Five infielders (a pitcher, 3B, SS, 2B, and 1B). Extra players will either be placed in outfield positions, or – if you want to utilize an assistant coach – can be given separate instruction in the outfield.
Teams can choose to have a catcher in full gear behind the plate (protective cups required). Coaches can also be used as a catcher, or they can set up behind the catcher to retrieve passed balls.
PITCHING:
Players pitch to begin the at bat. Players will throw a maximum of five pitchers per batter.
Players should not exceed 30 pitches in a game.
Try to work all players into the game as a pitcher at some point in the season to get them experience on the mound.
Use practice time to practice throwing off a mound with a batter in the box
